Hump my bump

No way on earth would someone like to be poked from the back let alone being humped from the back. Today, in my two decades of living, I have had a very bad recollection of being humped from the back.

Being my first time, it was a very shocking moment. I could hear screeching sounds from my back while I was thinking of something at that moment. The screeching sound was accompanied by two loud thumps, as in “pomp pang”. All I knew was that I was humped by SOMEONE unwillingly!

My good comrade (Kelisa) has been hit! It was a three-car-collision accident. A silver Wira rammed a black Perdana which then hit my ass. Innocent I was.

Darn, my car bumper, bonnet, brake light and tail light have to be replaced. Will be sending my car to the workshop tomorrow. How am I supposed to survive without a car for these few days?

This is really an unexpected present for my birthday. This is again a proof that the month of September has a lot of surprises.

Romans 12

This is a letter from Saint Paul to the Romans. This piece of advice is what I keep telling myself over and over again in my ministry. These words give me strength and therefore I would like to share with you.

1 I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship.

2 Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

3 For by the grace given to me I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than one ought to think, but to think soberly, each according to the measure of faith that God has apportioned.

4 For as in one body we have many parts, and all the parts do not have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ and individually parts of one another.

6 Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: if prophecy, in proportion to the faith; 7 if ministry, in ministering; if one is a teacher, in teaching; 8 if one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be sincere; hate what is evil, hold on to what is good; 10 love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor.

11 Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the holy ones, exercise hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute (you), bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil; be concerned for what is noble in the sight of all. 18 If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.

19 Beloved, do not look for revenge but leave room for the wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” 20 Rather, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals upon his head.”

21 Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.

May the good Lord keep me sane and wise in dealing with decisions, people, foes and enemies. I feel refreshed to viewing these photos over and over again. God, human and nature, we are all connected in some ways we cannot define nor explain. Just be greatful in our lives.

Things keep coming

My oh my. Lots of things are queueing in my to-do-list. With two wedding dinners to attend, one catechism class year end camp to organize and my own experiments to conduct, I can feel myself being stretched to limit. Somewhere close to my limit.

Felix, my older cousin, who’s getting married on All Souls Day just confirmed that he wanted me to become the Emcee for his wedding ceremony. It’s an honour and pleasure to be the emcee of the night. First of, I have a good reason to shop for handsome outfit. Secondly, I can talk on the stage. Thirdly, it’s always good to lend a hand to my relatives. Last but not least, perhaps I can promote danielliew.com. Haha.

Felix and Ting, both medical practitioners (doctors) in one prominent government hospital in Sarawak are getting married in two months time. I wonder how the celebration will be like. I am day-dreaming a union of Prince Charming and Cinderella clad in all white. The ballroom filled with sparkling crystals, beaming like the stars in the outer space. The crowd wearing their best costume and most beautiful smile.

It’s gonna be the second marriage at my mum’s side of the family. I am expecting more marriages to attend in the near future now that most cousins are in their early twenties to late twenties. We have a whole bunch in their teens and quite a number of small kids.

This is the second post dedicated to my family after my previous post on my granny’s 81st Birthday.

God, may you bless this couple with lots of love and understanding.

Me, UTM and Reader’s Digest

For those who read Reader’s Digest, I wonder if you noticed something or should I say see some familiar faces in the September 2008 issue.

The editor revealed that this issue has been enhanced with new look and great content. They even added a few extra pages to the magazine. In this issue they introduced the higher education section in the Special Advertising Section.

Guess what? Universiti Teknologi Malaysia as well as other public and private higher learning institutions each has something to market about themselves. Competition is indeed stiff nowadays.

The thing about university and colleges is that they can’t use models (as in the fashion world) to market their services. They simply need energetic, young, professional-looking, confident and brilliant graduates to be their “fashion models”. I am glad that I fall into that group, and my friends too!

You may find this in the Special Adverising Section, page H24 of the September issue. To my friends out there, go and grab one of this issue. It is so rare to have our faces in magazine.

Thank you so much Ida for informing me about this. I am beaming now, smile is in the air, laughter is in the air. Forgive me for repeatedly saying September is a great month over and over again!
